Who am I?

In 2016, my husband was diagnosed with ALS - a disease with no hope of survival. As a mother, wife and next of kin, it became my most important task to take care of our two daughters throughout his illness and when he died.
After my husband passed away in 2018, I decided to dedicate my life to help others, who have suffered a loss. I am certified Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist and author to the book ‘When dad dies’ (currently only available in Danish). I live in London with my two teenage daughters.

What my clients say

Widower, mother of 4

1:1 program

I can highly recommend the program facilitated by Kirsten.
Kirsten is really good at creating a good and safe atmosphere, with room to process both good and bad events and emotions, while at the same time guiding you through the process with relevant examples. The structure of the program has really been an advantage for me, as the steps in the method, means that the relationship and my own role in it has become much more clarified.
For me, it has made a big difference that Kirsten has guided me to say goodbye to unfinished situations and emotions. Now I am ready to look into a future, where I can focus on the good memories and the emotional healing. The program has really given me a big push in the right direction.

Widower

1:1 program

I have tried many grief groups and gone to a psychologist after my husband's death, but have in no way gotten the same out of these processes as that with Kirsten.
It surprised me - in the good way, to rediscover emotions and events that I had forgotten (but the mind saved) which are extremely important for how my approach to future relationships will be.
I had a good and very relieved feeling inside when my course with Kirsten was over, in a way I have not tried before. I felt emotionally "floating" in a way I had not thought I would experience again because I have been sad for many years.
With Kirsten, significant experiences from the past 20 years were in focus - for better or worse. I experienced a new manageability of my forgotten and squeezed emotions. They got attention, time and space and I have taken care of them so they will not bother me in new relationships and in my life in the future.
The course was intense - especially the last sessions touched me deeply - but it was definitely a success to complete and for that I want to say thank you - thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Help children with loss

It has been really educational and useful to participate in the course and Kirsten is a really good teacher. As a bereaved parent, you SO want to help your children in the best possible way in their grief, but you are unsure how. The course should be offered to all surviving parents.

What is the Grief Recovery Method?

The Grief Recovery Method is an action plan. It is a series of small steps that when taken, in order, by the griever it leads to the completion of all the unresolved business linked to the loss. It is the only grief support programme with an evidence base to its positive impact.
